James Comey grossly coddled by Jen Psaki says GOP will be ‘deeply sorry’ for targeting political foes

A self-aggrandizing interview found disgraced former FBI Director James Comey issuing a warning to Republicans, who he predicts will be “deeply sorry” should Democrats regain control.

A visit from the U.S. Secret Service seemed to be a small price to pay for Comey, who continued to enjoy the publicity of his allegedly threatening seashell post, conveniently timed for the release of his latest work of fiction. In fact, he appeared to suggest members of the GOP would be looking over their own shoulders in the future as the Democratic Party would justify partisan investigations based on current efforts at accountability.

Friday on MSNBC’s “The Briefing with Jen Psaki,” the host and former Biden administration press secretary raised the decision by the Department of Justice to retool the Office of Public Integrity by reassigning employees, while those who remain will no longer be responsible for investigations and prosecutions.

As Psaki called the move “a dismantling,” Comey responded by saying, “These are the people who, through decades and decades, have seen every kind of case. And so they’re there to make sure that the work, no matter who’s in charge in the White House, no matter who the attorney general is, that the work is done consistently with previous practice and consistent with the law.”

“I know Republicans these days aren’t big in thinking about principle or precedent. They’re gonna be deeply sorry that that disappears, because someday there will be a Democratic president and there’ll be investigations of Republican officeholders,” he warned. “If I’m them, I sure would want these career people in place making sure that it’s done in the right way.”

The former director, credited as one of the “main architects of the Russia collusion hoax,” went on, “Look, I’ve long thought that you could shrink the size of some of the Department of Justice headquarters units. But this is like burning down the house and then standing in front of the pile of ashes and saying, yeah, we really did need to retile the guest bath, right? This is destroying the place at a cost that’s gonna take years and years to rebuild.”

Meanwhile, his own recent social media antics were downplayed as Psaki referred to the “86 47” seashell image as  “a relatively benign social media post.”

That opened the door for Comey to portray himself as both a victim of celebrity and a hero for the Trump deranged as he explained how prior to his recent publicity tour, “I was actually, and I’m embarrassed to say, trying to withdraw a little bit, especially since last November. Be a grandfather, be an author, wear t-shirts and jeans all the time, and the reason I’m dressed in my old uniform is to remind myself that’s the coward’s way.”

“You must stand up and speak. Everyone who can speak — I can speak about the rule of law especially — needs to be out there because there are real serious threats and the only thing that’s necessary for them to triumph is for good men and women to be silent,” he insisted.

Of course, Comey’s example of speaking up has been interpreted as a threat on the life of President Donald Trump that had legislators acting to prevent him from ever holding a position in the federal government again.

Furthermore, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who was criticized in the interview as a “podcaster” despite his lengthy law enforcement career, recently slammed Comey’s “86 47” post as it was said to have inspired resource-draining “copycats.”

“We are now dealing with copycats, sending cryptic threats to public figures, using the ’86’ reference,” Bongino posted to X. “Whether they turn out to be legitimate threats or not, taxpayer-funded public safety agents are going to have to run these all out and investigate them. This is a reminder of the damage self-serving individuals, with a history of extremely poor judgment, can do when they fail to control their impulses.”
