Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, pushed back Friday against a report alleging she has fostered a “toxic” work environment in her congressional office, claiming the criticism is fueled in part by her race and gender, as reported by Fox News.
Speaking with CBS News, Crockett responded to a New York Post article published Thursday in which former unnamed staffers accused her of berating employees, creating a difficult workplace, and focusing more on media appearances than local issues in her district.

“Listen, goodness, I know that I have arrived, honey,” Crockett said with a laugh when asked about the report. “That is the way that I see this. Because as Beyoncé says, if they’re not talking about you, then obviously you must not be doing anything.”

The New York Post report alleged that Crockett’s main focus since being elected to Congress in 2023 has been securing appearances on programs such as The View and late-night talk shows, rather than engaging with district concerns.
One source told the outlet, “The staff is really just an island unto itself, because she doesn’t care about the local issues happening in her district.”
Crockett rejected the accusations, labeling them “more slander, more nonsense, more lies.” She told CBS News that her race and age made her a target for heightened scrutiny.
“There’s a lot of scrutiny that comes my way, and it comes my way from all different angles,” she said. “Not only being a woman, but being young, and being a Black woman.”

The Texas Democrat added that public criticism motivates her to continue her work. “Your hate is my motivation, so keep hatin’. All it does is motivate me to continue to do what I do, which is to be loud and proud on behalf of the American people.”
The New York Post report cited claims from former aides that Crockett had berated a staffer until they cried, required staff to drive her in a rented Escalade for short trips rather than using personal vehicles, and rarely came into the office.
One former aide alleged she “does her [material] that goes viral, and then freaks out over the most random things.”
Crockett, one of the most prominent Democratic critics of President Donald Trump, has frequently made headlines for her pointed attacks against him, calling Trump a “piece of s**t” and an “enemy to the United States.”

She often delivers combative remarks in committee hearings that gain traction on social media.
Earlier this year, The Atlantic reported that Crockett’s phone lock screen displays a photo of herself and that she attempted to “shut down” the magazine’s profile after learning it had contacted her colleagues for comment.
Crockett’s office has not issued an official statement beyond her televised remarks.
