Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) told supporters she was leaving her own election watch party in Dallas after delays in reporting votes from Dallas County raised questions about when final results would be available.
Crockett made the remarks Tuesday night as counting continued in a closely watched Democratic primary contest against state Rep. James Talarico.
With a significant portion of ballots still unreported from Dallas County, Crockett said she expected the outcome might not be clear until the following day.

“We need to see the Dallas County votes to see where they are,” Crockett said, according to NOTUS. She also accused Republicans of targeting Democratic voters during the election process.
“I want you to enjoy yourselves,” she said while addressing supporters gathered at the Dallas watch party. “But I won’t be back tonight because I have no idea of when we’re going to get results, and I fully anticipate it won’t be until tomorrow.”

The delays came after confusion surrounding polling hours in Dallas County prompted legal action earlier in the day.
A lower court initially ordered several polling locations serving Democratic voters to remain open two additional hours past the standard closing time due to voter confusion.
The Texas Supreme Court later ruled that ballots cast after 7 p.m. Central Time must be separated from votes cast before that time. The ruling allowed election officials to proceed with counting while ensuring the ballots cast after the original closing time were handled separately.
The situation created uncertainty late into the evening as vote totals continued to update while election officials sorted ballots according to the court’s order.
Crockett referenced the developments during her remarks and suggested Republicans were responsible for the disruption.
“Unfortunately, this is what Republicans like to do, and so they specifically targeted Dallas County, and I think we all know why,” she told supporters.
At the time Crockett spoke to supporters, NBC News election analyst Steve Kornacki said the vote totals indicated a strong lead for Talarico.
Speaking during a livestream earlier in the evening, Kornacki explained that the remaining votes in Dallas County were unlikely to erase the margin that had already been established.
“even if the rest of the vote in Dallas County came in … she would still be well short here of that margin that Talarico has built,” Kornacki said.
Vote totals shortly after 10 p.m. Central Time showed Talarico leading Crockett by a noticeable margin as the count continued.
According to early returns with roughly two-thirds of the vote counted, Talarico held 51.6 percent of the vote compared with Crockett’s 41.7 percent.
Election officials continued processing ballots while awaiting the remaining results from Dallas County following the court ruling.
The contest has drawn attention across Texas as the two Democrats compete in a race that could have implications for the general election in November.
The winner of the Democratic primary is expected to face either Sen. John Cornyn or Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the November election.
Cornyn currently represents Texas in the U.S. Senate, while Paxton serves as the state’s attorney general. The Republican nominee will compete against the Democratic primary winner for the seat later this year.
As vote counting continued Tuesday night, Crockett told supporters she planned to wait for additional results before making further public appearances.
With ballots still being processed and separated under the Texas Supreme Court ruling, the final outcome of the Democratic primary remained unresolved late Tuesday evening.
