Jasmine Crockett’s Trump DC Crime Crackdown Comments Crushed by the Raw Data [WATCH]

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) criticized President Donald Trump’s federalization of law enforcement in Washington, D.C., even as the city recorded zero homicides during the past week following a surge in police and National Guard presence.

Crockett made her comments while appearing on California Governor Gavin Newsom’s podcast, where she compared the increased law enforcement activity in the nation’s capital to scenes from the television series The Handmaid’s Tale.

“I never finished. I can’t watch it because it is too close to reality,” Crockett said, admitting she had not completed the series.

Crockett then accused President Trump of deliberately targeting cities led by black women.

“And so what we are seeing is this militarization, and obviously it started in your state [California]… of going to a black woman mayor’s city first,” Crockett told Newsom.

“And now we are in yet another black woman-led city and taking over.”

She continued, “And to me it goes again to the level of racism and hate that is constantly spewed out of this administration,” arguing that the decision amounted to “targeting of black-led areas.”

The D.C. Police Union disputed Crockett’s characterization, highlighting that crime in the city has declined since the president’s announcement of a 30-day federalization of law enforcement on August 11.

In a post on X, the Chuck Thies shared a screenshot from the Metropolitan Police Department confirming no homicides had been recorded in the past week.

“There have been ZERO MURDERS in DC during the past week,” the Thies stated.

The accompanying graphic noted that “No crime incidents found for homicides with any or no weapon over the past one week city wide on a heat map.”

Crime statistics since the surge show significant reductions across multiple categories.

According to the DC Police Union, carjacking dropped by 83 percent, robbery by 46 percent, violent crime by 22 percent, car theft by 21 percent, assault with a deadly weapon by six percent, property crime by six percent, and overall crime by eight percent.

Townhall’s Katie Pavlich also pointed to the decline in violence, remarking, “No murders for a week in D.C. and this is the response from the ‘leaders’ of the Democrat Party.”

President Trump addressed the results of the crime crackdown during an interview with conservative radio host Todd Starnes on Thursday, announcing that he planned to observe patrol operations firsthand.

“I’m going to be going out tonight, I think, with the police and with the military, of course. So we’re going to do a job,” Trump said.

“The National Guard is great. They’ve done a fantastic job.”
