JD Vance mocks Democrats for raging over Sydney Sweeney for doing jeans ad

Daily Caller News Foundation

Vice President J.D. Vance mocked Democrats on Friday over their meltdown about actress Sydney Sweeney being part of a jeans advertisement for American Eagle.

The ad’s tagline,” Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” sparked outrage among liberals who believe that it is promoting eugenics and so-called “Nazi propaganda.” Appearing to be amused by the outrage, Vance stated on the “Ruthless Podcast” that Democrats have failed to learn their lesson that mocking normal things will make them lose elections.

“My political advice to the Democrats is continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi,” Vance joked. “That appears to be their actual strategy. It actually reveals something pretty interesting about the Dems, though, which is that you have a normal, all-American beautiful girl doing a normal jeans ad. They’re trying to sell jeans to kids in America and they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing and it’s like you guys, did you learn nothing from the November 2024 election?”

“Like I actually thought one of the lessons [Democrats] might take is they’re gonna be less crazy,” Vance continued. “The lesson apparently taken is ‘we’re gonna attack people as Nazis for thinking that Sydney Sweeney is beautiful.’ Great strategy guys, that’s how you’re gonna win the midterms. Especially young, American men.”

Vance said that Democrats have expressed an open “hostility to basic American life” that has caused their popularity and chances of winning elections to significantly drop. Public polling has found that the Democratic Party is currently suffering from their lowest net favorability ratings on record, including a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) survey which found that their rating stands at -30 points.

Liberal audiences believe the play on words for Sweeney’s “great genes” is code for white eugenics that had been promoted in Nazi Germany, particularly since Sweeney has blonde hair and blue eyes. In one clip, Sweeney states “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring … My ‘jeans’ are blue,” as the camera pans her body and face.

Attractive female celebrities have been featured in jeans commercials for decades. Notably, 15-year-old Brooke Shields starred in the famous Calvin Klein ad in 1980 with the tagline, “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.”
