John Newton encounters John Wesley

Dr Gordon is to be congratulated on this fascinating study of the personal, spiritual relationship forged between John Newton and John Wesley.

In 2006 the author providentially found the missing middle volume of Newton’s three-part manuscript diary at a library in New York. This volume spans most years between 1756 and 1772. It includes Newton’s outlines of and brief comments on Wesley’s sermons heard while he was the Tide Surveyor in Liverpool. 51 out of 53 sermons have never been published before.
