George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said on Thursday that Hunter Biden waging war against first lady Melania Trump will likely not end well for him.
Alejandro Brito, an attorney for Melania, threatened a $1 billion lawsuit against Biden on August 6 over his allegations on “Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan” that the first lady met President Donald Trump through deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Turley said on “America’s Newsroom” that Biden’s adamant refusal to apologize for his statements may not be “welcome news” for him.
“In the notice letter, they said they would be seeking $1 billion and I can say right now without discovery [that] he doesn’t have it. That’s a lot of paintings that he would have to move and their value has gone down dramatically since he left office,” Turley said. “The fact is that the first lady has succeeded in getting several news outlets to retract this story. They really go after the source, this author named [Michael] Wolff who has been repeatedly challenged in terms of the accuracy of things he has written about the Trump family [and] the Trump administration … So this is not exactly welcome news for Hunter Biden.”
WATCH:
Biden cited biographer Michael Wolff’s allegations that the first lady had close ties to Epstein and had been introduced to her husband in 1998 through ID Models founder Paolo Zampolli, who had ties to the sex offender and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Melania’s legal team has vehemently denied these allegations and has successfully gotten these claims retracted.
Biden responded on the newest episode of “Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan” that an apology for his “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements” against the first lady is “not going to happen.”
“Fuck that,” Biden said.
Biden further alleged that the letter from Brito was simply a “distraction” from the victims who Epstein abused and that her legal team is just trying to “scare” him.
“I also think they’re bullies,” Biden continued. “And they think that a billion dollars is going to scare me … I have this to say to them: if they want to sit down for a deposition and clarify the nature of the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein, if the president and the first lady want to do that, and all of the known associates around them at the time of whatever time that they met — I’m more than happy to provide them the platform to be able to do it.”
The Daily Beast, which published the headline “Melania Trump Was ‘Very Involved’ in Epstein Scandal: Author” on July 30, retracted and apologized for the story after receiving a letter from the first lady’s attorney. Carville announced on an Aug. 7 episode of his podcast, “Politics War Room,” that his team deleted a video referencing Wolff’s allegations and apologized for his statements.
