Constitutional law expert Professor Jonathan Turley ripped Bill and Hillary Clinton over their selective defense of “free speech” after Democrat propagandist Jimmy Kimmel was briefly suspended over his lie that Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA Republican.
The hypocritical uproar over what was a business decision by Disney-owned ABC to sit their money-losing late-night television host down for a few days before he further inflamed the situation came from the same people who cheered social media censorship, including the former president and first lady, who both decried Kimmel being taken off the air as lying leftists turned him into a perverse martyr figure.
“Jimmy Kimmel and other late-night comedians have certainly said things about me that I found offensive, even outrageous,” Mrs. Clinton wrote in a post to X last week. “It never crossed my mind to call up the networks and say, ‘Hey, get rid of this guy.’ Because that’s not how America works.”

That’s the same Hillary Clinton who has called for the suppression of free speech for those with whom she doesn’t agree on numerous occasions, including last year on MSNBC, where she suggested that Trump supporters should be jailed for their social media posts.

The former president spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting last week and, while not mentioning Trump by name, also lamented what he suggested is the demise of free speech.
“I’m worried that we’re at risk of losing our freedom of speech, and that the weight of the government is being used to restrict expression from journalism to comedy,” Slick Willie told the crowd at the CGI’s 20th anniversary shindig.
But Turley called them both out for their flaming hypocrisy.
“Just when you think that you have reached a point where no hypocrisy surprises you, Bill Clinton comes out for free speech,” he wrote in a Thursday post to X. “The last time I saw Clinton was when he and Hillary were at the World Forum in Berlin with others calling for global censorship…”

“…I spoke at the conference as one of the few free speech advocates. The conference called for a ‘New World Order with European Values.’ With her husband applauding, Hillary Clinton called upon the Europeans to combat the threat of free speech…,” added the Fox News contributor and Shapiro professor of public interest law at George Washington University.

The esteemed professor was referring to an event earlier this year in Berlin, the heart of the old Nazi empire, an appropriate locale for a Europe that has reengaged with the fascist ideas of the mid-20th Century, especially the suppression of free speech and meting out severe punishment to dissenters.
In a March column for The Hill, Turley wrote that “Free speech is in a free fall in Europe, with ever-expanding speech regulations and criminal prosecutions — including for having ‘toxic ideologies’” and that the “Clintons were clearly in their element.” Mr. Clinton was honored by the authoritarian globalists as “leader of the century.”
He also served up a reminder that, despite her sudden repackaging of herself as a champion of free speech, Hillary has called for the use of the totalitarian EU Digital Services Act to censor Americans on social media.
…Previously, Hillary Clinton called upon the European Union to use the infamous Digital Services Act to force companies like X to resume censoring Americans and others. She is now also claiming to be a free speech advocate. https://t.co/nrM5HBLesL

“…Previously, Hillary Clinton called upon the European Union to use the infamous Digital Services Act to force companies like X to resume censoring Americans and others. She is now also claiming to be a free speech advocate,” Turley wrote, sharing his recent column on the failed Democrat presidential candidate.
“Clinton called upon European officials to force Elon Musk to censor American citizens under the infamous Digital Services Act (DSA). This is a former democratic presidential nominee calling upon Europeans to push the censorship of Americans,” he wrote. “Clinton praised the anti-free speech efforts in California and New York and called for the rest of the country to replicate the approach of those states.”
The Clintons and the rest of the Democrats would like Americans to believe that they are now the stalwart defenders of free speech. But many don’t buy it because they see them as liars and hypocrites with an established record of demanding the censorship of those who oppose them and the authoritarian globalist agenda that they serve.
