While the radical left has embraced NYC mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani with open arms, business leaders are not exactly lining up to be seen with him.
Wall Street bigwigs are largely planning to skip an upcoming meeting with Mamdani, according to The New York Post. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is among those withholding his attendance from the event, dubbing the socialist left-winger a “Marxist” while at an event in Ireland. The bank claims that his absence will be due to an unspecified scheduling “conflict.”
“He had other commitments and was unable to attend,” a spokesperson said in a statement to the outlet.
“Sources familiar with the matter” are claiming that most of the higher-level executives are sending “non-executive underlings” in their place to attend the meeting.
“Everyone is just in listening mode,” one bigwig snarked.
“Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, Bank of America’s Brian Moynihan, and Citi boss Jane Fraser did not plan to take part, sources said,” the outlet reported. “The insiders pointed to the firms’ all having quarterly results coming out on Tuesday and Wednesday. BofA is headquartered in Charlotte, NC and, arguably, more shielded from any prospective Mamdani administration.”
“That’s the same ideological mush that means nothing in the real world,” Dimon said dismissively of Mamdani’s platform, which includes freezing rent, and raising taxes to fund his utopian projects like ” free childcare and free buses, as well as create government-run grocery stores.”
“I have a lot of friends who are Democrats, and they’re idiots. I always say they have big hearts and little brains,” Dimon said. “They do not understand how the real world works. Almost every single policy rolled out failed.”
