In an email sent to supporters this afternoon Just Stop Oil informs members of two upcoming Zoom meetings to “give you an outline of a plan we’ve been working on” to help Your Party:

“A plan that considers how we can be in service to this new movement and looks to find a path we, in the climate and democracy space can work on together. We are looking at how Assemblies and Deliberative Democracy can be used, at this pivotal moment, to remake Democracy, so we really do give Power to the People.”

JSO’s organisers say the Corbyn party’s support means they are obliged to join: “That the merest sliver of a promise of agency and collective action has resulted in 800,000 expressions of interest for an as yet unformed party is a moment to sit up and take notice. Maybe the political landscape of the UK is more varied than bottom-trawling Reform and an authoritarian Labour Party.” Corbyn collaborated with JSO before back in 2022 to stage a “major wave of popular mass action” which did nothing.
