Kamala Harris assures interviewer Biden was fit to be president — but campaigning was different story

Former Vice President Kamala Harris insinuated on Sunday that former President Joe Biden was fit to be president, but that she had concerns about his ability to run for reelection.

Harris said during an interview with “BBC Sunday with Laura Kneunssberg” that Biden’s ability to run another successful campaign was in question, but that he was mentally able to serve another four years in the Oval Office. Democrats called on Biden to drop out of the race after he had appeared visibly confused and spoke with a raspy voice during a June 27, 2024, debate.

“I ask, was it on my behalf, grace, or recklessness to not raise the point with him about whether it was right for him to run?  But let’s be clear, my question was never about his capacity to be president,” Harris told the BBC.

Democrats and the corporate media attempted to cover up Biden’s physical and mental decline to increase his chances of being reelected, according to “Original Sin,” a book written by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson. His aides shielded Biden from talking to the press, provided pre-prepared notecards during press conferences, and took strides to ensure that he did not suffer another fall or end up in a wheelchair.

Following the debate, 37 congressional Democrats and independents called on Biden to drop out of the race, citing his inability to defeat the then-presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Biden caved to their requests and dropped out on July 21, 2024.

Harris ran a 107-day campaign and lost every single swing state, as well as the popular vote, to Trump. She said during the BBC interview that she may run for president again.

Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre exited the Democratic Party in June, citing the party’s “betrayal” of Biden. She stated on Tuesday that the party treated Biden in a “disrespectful” and “humiliating way.”
