Just a couple of weeks ago, we were thinking Chiefs Kingdom was collapsing … nope.
When it comes to facing fourth-and-short situations in the National Football League, teams have to be creative. The only team that has a reliable play are the Philadelphia Eagles with their infamous tush push. The other 31 franchises have to figure out new strategies on a weekly basis.
With that being said, however, it looks like the Eagles finally have company as Taylor Swift’s Kansas City Chiefs have cracked the code with a little trick play themselves. And I’ve gotta be honest, this is a lot juicier than the Birds’ tush push, and y’all know how much I love Philly. It took place Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. During the second quarter, it was a fourth-and-one with the Chiefs placed on their own 40-yard line. Patrick Mahomes and Co. lined up, and at first, it looked like they were just trying to trick the Raiders. It appeared that Mahomes was throwing out some counts attempting to draw Vegas offside in order to get an easy first down. But then, things got weird. The quarterback was heard on a hot mic whining about how that strategy “never f*cking works.”
Following Mahomes’ counts and complaint, everyone thought the Chiefs were going to call a timeout, even CBS broadcasters Jim Nantz and Tony Romo. Rather, Mahomes set right back up, hiked the ball and then handed it off to running back Kareem Hunt to cash in an easy first down.

And just like that, the Kansas City Chiefs are unfortunately so back, and I’m already expecting them to win the Super Bowl again … sigh.
