Kari Lake Unloads on Dem Rep Over His ‘Idiotic’ Trump Impeachment Stunt [WATCH]

Kari Lake, Senior Adviser for the U.S. Agency for Global Media, publicly challenged Michigan Democrat Rep. Shri Thanedar on Wednesday during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, criticizing his recently announced effort to impeach President Donald Trump.

Thanedar, who was elected to Congress in 2023, introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump earlier this week.

The charges include accusations that Trump abused executive and trade authority and undermined the constitutional power of Congress to control federal spending.

During the on-air debate, Lake directly addressed Thanedar, stating his actions reflect desperation within the Democratic Party.

“First of all, where did this guy come from? With all due respect, this is an idiotic thing to do. It’s proving that the Democrat Party has no play,” Lake said. “They don’t know what to do right now because Trump is winning on everything.”

Lake continued, “He’s strategizing how to fix the economy that Joe Biden drove not only into a ditch but off a cliff. This is why the American people were suffering.”

Thanedar’s impeachment effort comes as Democrats intensify criticism of Trump’s second-term agenda, particularly his executive actions related to border enforcement and immigration policy.

On April 10, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to assist in the return of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, an illegal migrant who had been deported to a high-security prison in El Salvador.

Thanedar referenced this case in his impeachment resolution.

Lake dismissed the impeachment effort as a political move aimed at gaining attention from far-left factions within the Democratic Party.

“It sounds to me like this is a political move to try to put him in good graces with the AOC crowd and the very, very far left radical crowd ahead of another election,” she said.

“This is ridiculous. The American people were sick of the previous attempts of impeaching President Trump before. They don’t want to see this again,” Lake added.

Lake further criticized Thanedar’s timing, given President Trump’s early-term achievements in border enforcement and foreign policy.

“I’m embarrassed for this gentleman. I’m embarrassed for that congressman that he’s doing that, that he’s fallen to that level to try to impeach President Trump in his first 100 days as he tries to save us from the serious missteps of Joe Biden and that administration that almost broke the backs of every American in this country,” Lake said.

She cited improvements in national security and international diplomacy under the Trump administration.

“What about the fentanyl that’s no longer pouring across the border? What about the lives that are saved there? What about a president who’s trying to end a war that’s killing thousands, tens of thousands of people and costing all kinds of our treasure over in Ukraine?” Lake asked.

“No. He’s trying to concentrate on something to make people all of a sudden know who he is so that he can raise money and run for reelection. I find it despicable.”

Thanedar’s impeachment filing marks the first such effort against President Trump in his current term.

The president, who returned to office in January, has implemented aggressive executive actions aimed at restoring border security and reversing many policies from the Biden-Harris administration.

During the previous four years, the U.S. experienced approximately 11 million border encounters, with daily averages exceeding 15,000 at the height of the crisis.

The issue became a focal point for voters, with immigration enforcement emerging as a top concern heading into the 2024 election.

According to a White House fact sheet reviewed by the Daily Caller News Foundation, President Trump’s second administration has overseen a 93% drop in daily border encounters and a reported 99.99% reduction in migrant crossings compared to prior numbers under President Biden.

The interview segment on Piers Morgan Uncensored is among the first high-profile public exchanges between a Trump administration official and a member of Congress over impeachment efforts in the new term.

As of Thursday, Rep. Thanedar has not released additional statements or announced further plans regarding the resolution.
