Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel revealed Friday that the FBI has located communications devices belonging to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former White House medical advisor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Patel confirmed that multiple investigations into Fauci-related matters are currently active across three FBI field offices.

The investigations concern concealment of federal records, alleged attempts by federal scientists to mislead the public on the origins of the pandemic, and other COVID-19-related issues, according to reporting by Just The News.

Patel credited Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill, including Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, for assisting in the search and pushing for transparency over several years.
“We just had a great breakthrough this week on Fauci,” Patel said during the interview.
“They had always been looking for Fauci’s original phones … phones and devices he used while he was back in Trump 1.0 during COVID. And nobody had found it until two days ago.”
Patel explained that while it is still too early to determine the contents of the recovered devices, their discovery represents progress in the ongoing investigations.

“Now look, your audience and everyone listening shouldn’t jump to the conclusion: ‘Everything is in there!’ We’ll look at it, we’ll pull it, we’ll rip it as we say, and maybe it’s deleted and maybe it’s not. But at least we found it,” he said.
“At least now we can tell the American people we’ve been looking. Because it is of public importance to figure out: Did that guy lie? Did he intentionally mislead the world and cause countless deaths?”
Patel emphasized that the work is not complete and that the FBI is continuing its investigations.
“I think a victory for the American people, that we broke with Congress, is that we did find it, we’re not done, we’re still looking, and we’re on the case,” he concluded.
Sen. Paul and other lawmakers have long sought documents from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) relating to Fauci’s involvement in funding gain-of-function research, specifically in connection to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
During prior congressional testimony, Fauci denied that the NIH funded such research, a statement that has since been called into question by new evidence and whistleblower claims.
In 2024, documents subpoenaed by a congressional oversight committee revealed that Fauci’s senior advisers attempted to delete emails related to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and EcoHealth Alliance, its U.S.-based research partner.
Some of the communications reportedly contained strategic misspellings designed to avoid detection by Freedom of Information Act searches.
Investigators interpreted the efforts as attempts to conceal critical records from public review and evade federal transparency requirements.
The latest developments come amid increased scrutiny of the federal government’s handling of pandemic-related information and growing concerns over the origins of COVID-19.
The devices recovered by the FBI may contain key communications relevant to those concerns, including discussions on funding, pandemic response strategy, and internal deliberations among federal scientists.
As the investigation moves forward, the FBI is expected to coordinate with congressional investigators and other agencies in examining the data for potential evidence of misconduct or criminal activity.
No charges have been filed at this time, and officials have not disclosed a timeline for the next phase of the inquiry.
