LA mayor’s vow to resist federal immigration law draws strong response from Trump admin. officials

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass vowed to resist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on a day when angry mobs took to the streets to confront agents as they carried out raids on Friday, drawing a strong response from some Trump administration officials.

In another of the ugly and dangerous responses to federal officers doing their jobs, increasingly belligerent leftists turned out to obstruct the enforcement of the nation’s immigration laws which has been a top priority of President Donald J. Trump since he took over after a landslide victory, fueled in part by his campaign promises to deport criminal illegal aliens.

Following the raids, Bass issued a defiant statement that suggested that ICE was carrying out terrorist acts against illegals and that her office was coordinating resistance with community organizations devoted to protecting the foreign invaders.

“We will not stand for this,” declared Mayor Bass, a former Democrat congresswoman and big fan of the murderous Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

“As Mayor of a proud city of immigrants, who contribute to our city in so many ways, I am deeply angered by what has taken place,” she said. “These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city. My office is in close coordination with immigrant rights community organizations. We will not stand for this.”

“You have no say in this at all,” White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller said in a post to X, reminding her honor that federal law trumps her own authority.

“It’s amazing the number of elected officials who don’t grasp the basics of federalism, or federal sovereignty over immigration issues, or the First Amendment,” said U.S. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon.

“They’re Illegals. Not ‘immigrants.’ One just tried to burn Americans alive in Boulder,” White House adviser Sebastian Gorka wrote in his replay to the mayor’s defiance, referring to the Egyptian national who attacked a group of Jews with a makeshift flamethrower in Colorado last weekend.

“If you’re aiding and abetting them you’re a criminal too. Are you ready to be treated as a criminal?” Gorka asked. “Because we are ready to treat you as one if you commit a crime.”

President Trump’s envoy for special missions Richard Grenell pointed the finger at Bass for encouraging attacks on federal officers.

“Karen Bass whipped all of this up. She attacked the rule of law. She undermined democracy,” he wrote on X. “The @MayorOfLA is creating chaos in LA.”

“Continued chaotic federal sweeps, across California, to meet an arbitrary arrest quota are as reckless as they are cruel,” California Governor Gavin Newsom said, adding more fuel to the fire. “Donald Trump’s chaos is eroding trust, tearing families apart, and undermining the workers and industries that power America’s economy.”

Democrats have created a volatile situation with their ongoing attacks on ICE, emboldening mobs that are increasingly feeling empowered to attack agents, a very dangerous situation that could erupt into full-scale rioting at any time.
