In answers to Priti Patel’s written questions, ministers flat-out refused to say which budgets – Foreign Office or MoD – will bankroll it. Instead ministers only said that “payments will be published in the normal manner” in annual accounts. Meanwhile the Mauritian government has already budgeted to receive the payments this year to support their own tax cuts…
Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel said:
“We still don’t know how much the FCDO and the MOD will be paying and what will be cut to finance these unnecessary costs. Labour is keeping it all secret, which means they don’t want the British public to know how bad this deal is and the impact it will have on Britain.”
The Mauritian Attorney General Gavin Glover is visiting London today to ‘check in’ on Labour’s progress toward ratifying the Treaty – which has been delayed until next year. Gearing up to bully Labour into more concessions…
