Authorities released new information Wednesday about the suspected gunman in the fatal shooting of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, 31, was shot during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University and died over an hour later after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. During a press conference, authorities said the bullet appeared to come from a rooftop on campus and described the suspect only as wearing dark clothing, based on grainy surveillance footage.
“The only information we have on the suspect, the possible shooter, is taken from closed-circuit TV here on campus. We do have that, we’re analyzing it. But it is security camera footage, so you can kind of guess what the quality of that is. We do know, dressed in all dark clothing, but we don’t have a much better description other than that,” Commissioner Beau Mason told the reporters.

“The shot came from here on campus, from a location, potentially from a roof, yes, longer distance shot from a roof,” Mason added.
A gunman shot Kirk from a building about 200 yards away as he spoke to students at Utah Valley University, a university spokesperson said. Security personnel rushed to carry his body from the scene, as captured in video footage.
President Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death on Truth Social, confirming the conservative activist had succumbed to his injuries and calling him a warrior for truth and a patriot who loved America.
