An ongoing battle for the soul of America has continued for the better part of the last decade if not the past generation. The Left and the Right have split the nation, with political violence at an all-time high as the values that define the country cover the headlines, social media, and people’s very identities. As the tension rises on both sides, we see the assassination of Charlie Kirk as the literal turning point toward conservatism and the acknowledgement of the spiritual battle as more than simply ideology but rather Good versus Evil. This is the beginning of the masses returning to the very things that strengthened the US throughout its history: God, family, country, and capitalism.
The question now is: “How do we convince Leftist Americans of the very values that they seem bent on rejecting and destroying?” The answer is not to criticize what they value but to reframe their way of thinking and prove that our native values are objectively stronger.
Most people cannot adequately define capitalism, socialism, or communism and I believe fewer would know the difference between them. Americans that identify as communist argue that there has never been an example of communism and that a truly communist state has never existed, which is how they object to living in China, Vietnam, Russia, Cuba, and other countries, thus preferring to live in the USA. When people declare themselves as socialists, they argue that they want to be like Europe with free education, healthcare, and other social programs, wrongly believing that, since Europe has social programs, the nations are socialist. Nothing could be further from the truth. Europe is nothing more than a closed capitalist society where, in exchange for social immobility, the proletariat accepts the socialized programs and doesn’t revolt. The European class model has existed since the Dark Ages where the nobles never surrendered their fiefs and armor, but rather exchanged them for luxury cars and business suits. Aristocracy in Europe is just as prevalent as it ever was, but the difference is that absolute monarchy was deprived of its ability to check it.
So how does the American way of life factor into this?
We broke the status quo. Our Founding Fathers, as brilliant as they could be, designed a form of government that protected the rights of the governed (Bill of Rights), while capitalism empowers the God-given potential of every man, woman, and child who aspire for a brighter tomorrow. How else do you explain the US being the most powerful country on Earth, the benevolent giant of the 20th century, and the greatest economy that the world has today? It is our very foundation and dedication to our values that attracted the immigrant from every part of the world to leave his or her homeland, culture, and even family for the promise of a better future. This creed, to which we all belong, is the reason why other nations cannot topple us through war but engage in irregular tactics such as convincing Americans in closed online communities that America needs to burn.
And the way to fix it? A call to arms; not against neighbors or political sides, but against relativism and its morality; to convince every American that God, family, country, and capitalism are worth fighting for. So, what better tool to do that than a novel written by a Cuban immigrant father and his American-born son?
Gabriel Lock: Bound by Law journeys through the beginning of a saga for the ages, where Gabriel joins his father’s law firm to be the shield of the citizen rather than the spear of the government. Representing clients from all walks of life, Gabriel demonstrates the character of a patriot formed by family and chasing after Christ, embodying the lawyer’s sacred charge of giving himself to those who need him, while pursuing justice in every step.
We can only win the battle for America’s soul if we are willing to engage in the most sacred field our Founding Fathers gave us, the field of free speech. And only if we are willing to exercise our constitutional rights are we able to convince the rest of our fellow Americans about the beauty of this great nation upholding God, family, country, and capitalism.
