Move over “Maryland man,” an illegal alien who allegedly assaulted a federal agent, emerged as a new leftist hero, “Spokane man.”

Allegations of human trafficking and purported ties to MS-13 hadn’t stopped members of the Democratic Party from booking the first flight they could to El Salvador to rise to the defense of deported illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Evidently, the same zeal applied to illegals with actual criminal convictions as corporate media reports downplayed the offenses of 35-year-old Martin Diaz to paint him as a victim of the president’s deportation policy.
A resident of Washington after being brought illegally into the United States as a child, Diaz, also known as Martin Diaz-Amezcua, was dubbed a “Spokane man” by media outlets following his arrest by federal agents, who included an assault charge against one of the law enforcement officials.
Amid the rush to defend the illegal alien, advanced heavily by the Party for Socialism and Liberation in Spokane, important details like prior convictions for domestic violence and third-degree assault — a downgrade from a third-degree rape charge — were disregarded in favor of alleging wrongdoing on the part of the arresting officers. One post claimed the arrest was conducted “with no warrant, no ID, and no regard for the law.”
As White House Principal Deputy Communications Director Alex Pfeiffer put it on X, “The Left’s new hero is an illegal immigrant with a rape case and two felony convictions.”

Following the Mexican-national’s arrest on April 29, Diaz was indicted on May 7 for a charge of assault of a federal officer, an offense that, if found guilty, leaves him facing up to 20 years in prison and a possible fine of up to $250,000.
Court filings detailed that U.S. Border Patrol agent Walter Sketch had “exited his vehicle, while wearing his agency issued tactical vest, with agency placards visible, and identified himself as a Border Patrol Agent, and ordered Diaz to stop.”
The documents further asserted, “Diaz swung backwards with one of his elbows, striking Agent Sketch in the eye. In a subsequent interview, Agent Sketch stated that the blow from Martin Diaz’s elbow dazed him, that he saw stars, and his vision was blurred.”
According to a report from The Spokesman-Review, among the outlets referring to the illegal alien as a “Spokane man,” Diaz was previously convicted of third-degree assault, a downgrade from charges of third-degree rape in 2008. That led to an order of removal from the United States. Later, Diaz faced a conviction for domestic violence against his first wife’s father. Additionally, he’d been reportedly seeking legal immigration status since his 2018 marriage to his second wife, who was featured in interviews as well as at a May Day protest demanding the release of Diaz.
The framing of Diaz’s case against his record and the recent arrest had social media reactions more than a tad skeptical of the claims of innocence, especially after the lengths leftists had taken to defend other illegal aliens in support of their “due process” narrative.
I think there’s more to the story that you’re not telling us

Why don’t you guys focus your efforts on somebody, anybody being deported without a criminal record. You sure know how to choose ’em.

Imagine defending someone like this, with a violent criminal history & wanting to keep them in the US.
Go back to your home country.

The Media IS the enemy of the American People!

They really do care more about illegal immigrants than American citizens. I honestly can’t wrap my head around how anyone thinks that makes sense.

“Was sentenced to a couple months in jail”
Love the journalist’s choice of “a couple months” rather than the precise number like you’d expect in an article on a prison sentence. That subtle affectation of nonchalance, the implied shrugging of shoulders…Pulitzer-worthy!
