Progressive influencer Hasan Piker has been suspended from the streaming platform Twitch after saying the deadly shooting outside a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C. was a potential “false flag” operation.
Piker, a prominent left-wing commentator with over 2.8 million followers on Twitch and 1.6 million on YouTube, was discussing the manifesto of suspected shooter Elias Rodriguez, who is accused of killing two Israeli Embassy diplomats — Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim — outside the Capital Jewish Museum last Wednesday night. While Piker denied outright endorsing the false flag theory, he said the aftermath of the attack was so bizarre that it resembled a staged event. “You could not have designed a better false flag incident like this,” he said during the livestream. “I’m not saying it is a false flag incident at all… I think this is just one dude who is genuine in his actions and maybe a little bit brain broken,” he added.
Piker posted on X that Twitch had suspended his account for “Improper Handling of Terrorist Propaganda” and “Sharing content related to terrorist or violent extremist groups.” He claimed his comments were part of a “critical examination” of Rodriguez’s motivations and defended the stream as a form of journalism.

“I believe this is a bad policy for news and press freedom,” he wrote, sharing a screenshot of the email from Twitch confirming his temporary suspension. Piker said that his work is grounded in free speech and critical analysis.
Critics, however, accused the self-described socialist of spreading antisemitism and trivializing the deadly attack. “You called it a false flag. You hate the Jewish people and you are antisemitic,” one user responded on X.
Twitch has not responded publicly to the suspension, which has reignited debate over the platform’s moderation policies and Piker’s long history of incendiary commentary.
The suspension also comes just weeks after Piker was reportedly questioned by U.S. immigration officials in Chicago following a flight from France, the New York Post reported. He alleged he was interrogated about past statements that critics say showed support for terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Houthis.
