Leftists are taking a victory lap over the CEO of Target stepping down, but their boycott is a tiny blurb in the bigger picture.
Brian Cornell was expected to step down following years of slacking sales, but will remain as Target’s executive chairman while its current chief operating officer, Michael Fiddelke, steps in as CEO.
“Target has been in a deep slump for years, a result largely of its own strategic missteps,” reported CNN.
Bloated inventory after COVID lockdowns, non-essential merchandise, and fierce competition from large retailers were all named as part of Target’s current struggle. But, for leftists, it was their supposed boycott over the retail giant’s dropping of divisive DEI practices.
it’s actually easy since nobody wants to go to walmart and this is mostly boycott driven – address the criticisms of the boycott head on (probably fire all executive leadership after the CEO is gone) publicly and loudly change position, apologize, and then watch a very beautiful…

The Target boycott probably the first time I’ve seen everyone on the same page and look what happened. Also, them being too damn expensive made it an easy decision anyway lmao

I am a straight, white Ally. I too have not been back into a Target since the DEI changes and their statements. I’ve always voted with my dollars… and I will never stop! Let’s keep it going!

This is meaningful. The first successful boycott in decades.
Target was too excited about removing Black products (many successful) from the shelves. Almost giddy in press coverage. Nah.
Just play it straight. Just be fair. He deserved to be fired. https://t.co/jVoggbtzp9

Hi Brian, have you ever heard of Bud Light?
After mass nationwide boycotts against Target for choosing to end their DEI (diversity equity inclusion) program, they have lost over $12B in sales and the CEO has also officially resigned as a result.
Love it, power of the people.

Not so fast, lefties.
When it comes to boycotts, Target was feeling major heat BEFORE it dropped its DEI policies, and there’s a victory lap of sorts simultaneously developing on the right over the latest news.
BREAKING: The woke CEO of Target just RESIGNED.
CEO Brian Cornell is stepping down after the company has seen plummeting sales. Target got HEAVILY involved in pro-LGBTQ and woke culture, going all-in on pride merchandise. They are now retreating from DEI.

Once Target goes belly up, I think I might buy a couple of their empty buildings and turn them into MASSIVE Redneck Riviera’s

Yes!
I haven’t gone to Target since they did the restroom mistake.

You’ll remember back in 2023 they pushed LGBTQ pride merch on kids – and this guy was defending it.
“I think those are just good business decisions, and it’s the right thing for society, and it’s the great thing for our brand.”
Nope.
They had to backtrack, and now nobody likes… pic.twitter.com/0Ro7S9RVVi

We remember.
Conservative author Carol Swain sees a valuable lesson for corporations: Steer clear of politics and stick to business.

Target has been dying for years. It needs to return to basics. The primary goal of a corporation should be to maximize profits. It needs to leave the politics behind. pic.twitter.com/p3A1oL2jUw
