Olivia “Livvy” Dunne is preparing for a new step in her career as she transitions from college athletics and social media into acting, with a role in Fox’s upcoming reboot of the television series “Baywatch.”

Dunne shared a glimpse of her preparation for the project on Friday, posting a series of photos on social media that appeared to show her holding what looked like a script from the program while wearing a red swimsuit styled similarly to the lifeguard outfits made famous by the original series.

The images were posted in a photo carousel that also included media coverage of the announcement about her role, which had been reported publicly the previous day.

“I’m not a lifeguard, but I play one on TV,” Dunne wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.

The 23-year-old former LSU gymnast is set to appear in the reboot with a recurring role on the show.

According to the casting announcement, Dunne will portray a “highly enthusiastic junior lifeguard” named Grace.

The role marks Dunne’s first acting job in a scripted television series. Although she has appeared in advertising campaigns, including an ongoing partnership with Fanatics Sportsbook, the “Baywatch” reboot will be her first significant venture into acting.

As news of her casting circulated Thursday, Dunne acknowledged the announcement on social media.

Dunne previously competed as a gymnast at Louisiana State University and gained a large following on social media during her college career.

Her online presence and brand partnerships made her one of the most recognizable college athletes during the era of name, image and likeness deals.

In recent weeks, Dunne has spoken publicly about her interest in pursuing acting opportunities now that her collegiate gymnastics career has concluded.

Earlier this month, she told People that acting has been a long-standing interest and that she has been taking steps to prepare for opportunities in the field.

“It’s something I’ve been passionate about for quite some time,” she told the outlet. “I was interested in doing that at LSU, but sports are your top priority when you’re a student-athlete at school; school and sports, but really gymnastics was my main focus.”

Dunne explained that completing her college career has given her the flexibility to pursue new creative projects.

“And now that I’m done with school, I have more time to lean into the acting stuff and the creative side of things,” she added.

The Fox reboot of “Baywatch” is scheduled to premiere this fall.

The original series, which aired in the late 1980s and 1990s, followed lifeguards working along the beaches of Los Angeles County and became widely known for its beach rescue scenes and ensemble cast.

The upcoming version will feature several actors joining Dunne in the cast.

According to the production announcement, the show will include Stephen Amell, Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Brooks Nader, David Chokachi, Thaddeus LaGrone and Noah Beck.

Dunne has also recently drawn attention for her personal life.

She is in a relationship with Paul Skenes, a pitcher for Team USA.

Earlier this week, she mentioned that she had to miss one of his appearances during international competition because of work obligations.

Skenes started against Mexico during pool play on Monday, but Dunne said she was unable to attend the game due to a professional commitment.

She did not specify whether the obligation was related to work on the “Baywatch” project.

With production preparations underway ahead of the show’s fall debut, Dunne’s social media post offered an early look at her involvement in the reboot and signaled the start of her acting career as the project moves forward.
