Lowe’s Employee Reportedly Sent HR Email Stating He Was Going To Shoot Coworker Ahead Of Crime

A Lowe’s employee reportedly sent an email to management and human resources stating he was going to shoot a coworker ahead of a June 14 shooting.

Christopher Wasnetsky, an employee at a Lowe’s in Scranton, Pennsylvania, sent the email to human resources, the Scranton Times-Tribune reported, citing a Monday criminal complaint. Wasnetsky allegedly shared that he planned to shoot Jeff Moeller, a coworker he claimed had been harassing him. Wasnetsky also said the incident would not have taken place if someone had addressed his harassment claims, according to the complaint.

Wasnetsky allegedly shot Moeller multiple times while the man was working an overnight shift at Lowe’s at approximately 12:30 a.m. The suspect told police he shot the man two times in the head and also in the chest, the complaint alleged. Mueller was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center and declared deceased, according to police.

Detectives reviewed the store’s security footage and discovered that the alleged shooting was caught on video, according to WNEP. The video allegedly corroborated what was outlined in the complaint. Mueller was using a forklift when Wasnetsky shot him and fell to the ground and called for assistance, only for the suspect to shoot him again, authorities said.

Wasnetsky also allegedly called 911 to report the shooting and identify himself as the perpetrator, the Scranton Times-Tribune reported. During an interview with police, Wasnetsky accused Moeller of harassment, said he purchased a pistol and claimed he conducted target practice in his backyard during an interview with police, according to the complaint. Wasnetsky allegedly said he intended to shoot Moeller and then turn the weapon on himself.

The Lowe’s store manager told police that Wasnetsky submitted allegations of harassment against Moeller that were looked into and unfounded, according to the outlet. A corporate spokesperson for the company described the incident which killed Moeller, a husband and father of three daughters, as a “senseless act of violence.” (RELATED: Infant, Two Others Die In Carnival Shooting In One Of The Safest States)

Authorities are holding Wasnetsky in prison without bail and he is set to appear at a preliminary hearing on June 30, according to the Scranton Times-Tribune. He has been charged with first- and third-degree murder.
