Mamdani to bring cadre of young commies who could influence NYC for years after he’s gone

A peek behind the socialist scenes revealed that similarities in thought weren’t the only things the Big Apple’s mayoral frontrunner had in common with his insiders.

While many will be looking to the gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia as early indicators of public opinion on the Trump administration, the New York City mayoral race is shaping up to be a barometer measuring surrender to the spirit of the age.

As New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D) continues to outpoll his competition by wide margins, the New York Post painted a broader picture of what his potential tenure in Gracie Mansion could look like, with a focus on the young radicals lacking real-world experience that comprise his inner circle.

“A strong collective of Zohran Mamdani’s core brain trust are 30-somethings or even younger Gen Zers with little-to-no experience in government — but long histories of radical left-wing politics,” detailed the newspaper. “Mamdani’s frontrunner status in the Big Apple mayoral race puts these untested youths — who variously have ties to billionaire George Soros, grew up in swanky homes and went to posh private schools — a stone’s throw from the levers of power.”

Eight out of roughly 20 members of 33-year-old Mamdani’s inner circle are said to be younger than 36 years old, with three said to be tied to Soros. Many of the politician’s insiders are said to have average incomes of $10,000 to $12,000 per month while peddling socialist pipe dreams.

“We’re getting ready for another administration of shocking naïveté,” said a Democratic operative to the outlet.

Among those featured, the newspaper highlighted Elliana (Elle) Bisgaard-Church, a 34-year-old Californian Columbia University graduate with less than five years of experience in New York politics serving as Mamdani’s chief adviser.

The Post also pointed to 26-year-old Morris Katz, son of screenwriter David Bar Katz, who grew up in a $5 million Manhattan apartment and had reportedly lied to the New York Times about his age, claiming to be two years older.

“I’m drawn to people who treat [politics] as more of an art form than a sport,” he said on the Pro Politics podcast while styling himself a populist after growing up in the company of celebrities.

“Notwithstanding (former Mayor Bill) de Blasio retreads,” said Democratic operative Ken Frydman, a onetime press secretary from then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s (R) tenure, “the Mamdani administration will be even less experienced at government than Mayor Mamdani himself. For a city government the size of New York, that’s an operational nightmare. Good luck with the budget and unions.”

Others among Mamdani’s insiders include 29-year-old Julian Gerson, a speechwriter who worked for retiring New York Rep. Jerry Nadler (D) and former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I), and 33-year-old Zara Rahim, who was a staffer for former President Barack Obama in addition to working for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She is also considered a “friend” by former Open Society Foundation President Patrick Gaspard, who served both terms in Obama’s administration.

Celia (Cea) Weaver was marked as another notable member of the Democratic Socialists of America, as the 36-year-old housing adviser spent years publicly pushing for the end of private property and has been the coalition’s director for the Soros-backed Housing Justice for All, as detailed by Fox News.

In the backdrop of these team highlights came the reality that the Democratic primary winner had leaders within his own party steering clear of an endorsement with only weeks remaining before the election.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) mentioned “some areas of disagreement” alongside “very strong areas” where they are in sync without offering an endorsement for any candidate. Likewise, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has been asked, “What’s taking you so long to support him?” only to respond, “Stay tuned,” before moving to the next question.
