The Metropolitan Police Department has charged a Northeast man with shooting someone after an argument over an electric-car charging cable.
MPD said in a release that Ato Ocran, 46, shot the unnamed victim on Tuesday afternoon after the two started arguing over the cable.
The argument started at a charging station in the parking lot of a Giant supermarket in Northeast. Mr. Ocran drove off in his blue Tesla after the alleged shooting, according to a police report cited by WTTG-TV.
D.C. Fire and EMS took the victim to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The police then tracked down Mr. Ocran and his car to a residence in the 1000 block of Bryant Place NE. After a several-hour barricade situation, Mr. Ocran left the residence, police said. MPD arrested him without further incident.
Authorities have charged Mr. Ocran with assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of an unregistered firearm and destruction of property.
