A minister has said Peter Mandelson will ‘have more to say’ after fresh allegations concerning his close relationship with his “best pal” Jeffrey Epstein this morning. You should think so…
The Telegraph reports that Mandelson and Epstein worked together on a billion-pound banking deal after the latter’s conviction for a child sexual offence and while Mandelson was Business Secretary. Education minister Josh MacAlister was asked on Sky News if the reports made him feel queasy:
“Peter is absolutely right to say he deeply regrets ever being introduced to him. And you know, Peter’s not backwards in coming forwards, so I’m sure he’ll have more to say about it.”
MacAlister added that Downing Street still had confidence in Mandelson. Some of Epstein’s victims have called for the ambassador to be sacked…
UPDATE: Mandelson says he regrets “carrying on that relationship… for far far longer than I should have done.“
