Mariners’ Victor Robles Slings Bat At Pitcher After Erupting In Anger From Hit-By-Pitch

The man is clearly tired of being hit.

Seattle Mariners right fielder Victor Robles, 28, is currently undergoing rehab and he suited up Sunday for the Tacoma Rainiers (M’s Triple-A affiliate) in their game against the Las Vegas Aviators (Athletics). And things ended up going … well … a bit sideways.

In the third inning, he was squaring off against Aviators pitcher Joey Estes. During so, Robles ended up being blasted with a pitch, but instead of just shaking it off and walking to first base like most, my man decided to sling his bat at Estes.

Robles was immediately tossed out of the contest not much longer after his bat throw, but things didn’t stop there. While he was in the dugout about to head back to the locker room, he threw an entire snack box onto the field. To be fair to Robles, his irritation could’ve come from the fact that he’s been hit by three pitches in just one week in Triple-A. And on top of that, Estes hit him prior with two pitches total knocking Robles during Tuesday’s game.

Later Sunday, Robles took to his Instagram Stories to issue an apology, explaining that he’s been dealing with his mother’s death.

“I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my recent reaction on the field. I let my frustration get the best of me, and I understand how that may have affected not just the game, but the energy and respect we all work so hard to maintain,” wrote Robles.

“Coming off a long rehab and being away from the game for most of the season has been physically and mentally challenging. Adding to that, the recent passing of my mother has been incredibly hard, and I’ve been doing my best to hold it together. That’s not an excuse, but some context I feel you deserve to understand where I’m coming from.”

I say let’s give him a break … I’d crash out, too, if my mama died and I kept getting hit with pitch after pitch.
