Max Ehrich Claims He Was Kidnapped By Gang, Introduced To Nitrous

“The Young and the Restless” actor Max Ehrich says he was kidnapped by gang members in Los Angeles and forced to inhale nitrous oxide — a weeklong binge he claims led to his domestic violence arrest.

Ehrich, who was once engaged to Demi Lovato, told TMZ that three men took him against his will and introduced him to the drug. He said he remained high for days before being filmed arguing with his mother in a clip that preceded his arrest. The actor said he was in a state of psychosis and under the influence while livestreaming the confrontation with his mother. In the footage, he could be heard demanding her phone before the situation allegedly turned physical, appearing to inhale nitrous oxide as police arrived.

Ehrich told the outlet his mother had been trying to stop him from huffing when the altercation escalated. He was arrested Tuesday night and booked into jail in Port St. Lucie.

The actor said he’s currently being held in Florida under a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation pursuant to the Baker Act and plans to enter a 30-day rehab program once released.

His mother reported that he “heavily abuses inhalants,” according to police, and had been using nitrous oxide before the incident. She allegedly told officers her son had become violent during an argument over the phone, chased her into a neighbor’s yard, pushed her to the ground, and kicked her in the thigh. She did not sustain serious injuries, according to TMZ.
