Rep. Maxine Waters was blocked from entering the Los Angeles Federal Building on Sunday after attempting to use her congressional status to gain access to see SEIU California President David Huerta, who was arrested during a federal immigration enforcement operation, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Waters was seen outside the building during ongoing demonstrations that followed a series of immigration raids conducted by federal agents across the city.

According to video captured by a bystander identified as Stu and posted on X, Waters attempted to pull the door open as security closed it. She stated she was invoking her “congressional authority” to enter but was denied access.

Security personnel shut the door as Waters tried to enter, and she was left standing outside. In a follow-up post, Stu noted:
“Members of Congress have oversight authority but must give advance notice to access federal buildings. Security concerns, ongoing investigations, or risks to personnel can lead to entry being denied—even with ‘congressional authority’ cited.”
The federal agents on-site did not publicly comment on the incident involving Waters.

This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year
Huerta, a prominent union leader, was taken into custody on Friday for obstructing a federal immigration vehicle during a sweep by Homeland Security agents targeting illegal immigrants across multiple locations in Los Angeles. Federal officials confirmed the arrest.
Video footage released from both civilian sources and federal bodycams shows Huerta standing in front of a Homeland Security vehicle. He is then forcibly removed by agents, stumbling to the ground either due to lost balance or interference from fellow demonstrators.
Huerta was transported to a hospital while in custody, treated for minor injuries, and discharged Friday evening. He remains in federal custody pending arraignment, which is scheduled for Monday in federal court.

Waters’ appearance at the protest came amid ongoing tension between federal immigration enforcement officers and protest groups rallying in support of illegal immigrants. The events in Los Angeles follow a recent wave of crackdowns ordered by federal authorities.
Officials have not confirmed whether any charges beyond obstruction will be filed against Huerta. The Department of Homeland Security has not issued a detailed statement regarding the enforcement operations or Waters’ attempted entry.
