Media Claimed Drug Use, Elon Responds With Lab Receipts

Elon Musk publicly posted the results of a drug screening on Tuesday, showing a negative result for a wide range of controlled substances, including cocaine, ketamine, and amphetamines. Musk shared the test result image on his X account with the caption: “lol.”

As Newsmax reported, the document, issued by Fastest Labs of South Austin in conjunction with United States Drug Testing, states that a urine sample was collected on June 11, received by the lab on June 13, and that the final report was issued on June 16.

The report lists the reason for testing as “other.”

June 11 is also the day Musk issued a public apology to President Donald Trump, acknowledging that he had “gone too far” in previous social media posts following a disagreement over a Senate megabill.

Musk formerly served in the Trump administration as a special government employee tasked with leading the Department of Government Efficiency.

The drug test posted by Musk showed negative results across more than 20 substances, including barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, cannabinoids, cocaine, ecstasy, ethanol, fentanyl, ketamine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP, and tramadol.

The release of Musk’s drug test results follows a series of allegations, including a report from The New York Times in May that claimed Musk had been using a “cocktail” of substances while working with Trump and during his campaign appearances.

The article cited unnamed sources and claimed Musk carried a daily box containing roughly 20 pills, some allegedly resembling Adderall. The report also suggested Musk had been using hallucinogenic mushrooms and high doses of ketamine.

In response, Musk challenged the credibility of the media outlets involved. He posted on X: “I hereby challenge the NYT and WSJ to take drug tests and publish the results! They won’t, because those hypocrites are guilty as sin.”

Musk further pushed back on allegations made by The Wall Street Journal, which claimed that he was being removed from Tesla. Musk stated that the board had denied that claim outright and said, “The sheer audacity of the WSJ/NYT lies is astonishing!”

While Musk acknowledged in one post that he had previously tried “prescription” ketamine for mental health purposes, he emphasized that he had not used it in recent years. “It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven’t taken it since then,” he wrote.

Musk continues to deny all claims of drug abuse and maintains that the media coverage is both false and politically motivated.
