House Speaker Mike Johnson said Monday on Fox News that the nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations revealed the left’s “real agenda.”
Left-wing groups that have defended authoritarian regimes united Saturday in a string of anti-President Donald Trump “No Kings” protests, accusing the former president of behaving like a dictator. Appearing on “Hannity,” Johnson said the groups’ rhetoric showed a clear disdain for capitalism, the rule of law, and the nation’s founding principles.
“Now, listen to these people’s own language, Sean — what they stand for. It is completely the opposite of what America was founded upon. They don’t like living here. They don’t like capitalism or the free enterprise system,” Johnson told host Sean Hannity. “They don’t like the founding principles of the country, individual freedom, and limited government, and the rule of law, and peace through strength, and fiscal responsibility, free markets, human dignity. They’re against all of that.” (RELATED: ‘It Is All About Trump’: Brit Hume Breaks Down What ‘No Kings’ Reveals About Politics Today)
Johnson appeared to warn that the protests had crossed a dangerous line, saying their rhetoric revealed a violent streak that exposed the movement’s true nature.

“And they go out and they put out these radical messages, violent messages. They want to call for the murder of a president who’s already survived two failed assassination attempts, and they’re mocking the death of Charlie Kirk. These people can be evaluated and judged on their own actions. And I think everybody in the country can see exactly what’s going on here,” Johnson added.
“We’re seeing a moment of real clarity. The American people can see exactly what is going on right here. These rallies we described as the ‘hate America rallies,’ because there is no better description. Look at who was involved. [Senate Minority Leader] Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats went out there to participate,” the House speaker continued. “They stood arm in arm, side by side, with some of the most radical groups that have ever assembled on U.S. soil. They openly advertised that they were cosponsored — they were [George] Soros funded, and they were cosponsored by the Communist Party USA, the Young Communist League of New York, and all the other radical groups. They’re out there championing that issue.”
Dozens of protests broke out across the country Saturday targeting Trump and his administration’s policies. During both the 2022 midterms and the 2024 presidential race, Democrats repeatedly cast Trump and other Republicans as fascists and threats to democracy.
The “No Kings” campaign claimed millions of participants joined thousands of coordinated marches across major metropolitan areas to oppose what organizers described as one-man rule and to reaffirm that the United States belongs to its people. The movement’s leaders said their goal was to resist “governing through fear and force.”
Some protests took a darker turn as participants voiced threats and violence. In Seattle, one man told reporters he wanted to harm White House adviser Stephen Miller, whom he compared to a Nazi. A woman in Portland, Maine, said reading about Trump’s death would be the best birthday gift.
