Mississippi Hunters Snag 14-Foot Alligator That Looks Straight Out Of ‘Jurassic Park’ Movie

I love alligators, but this is some pretty elite ish.

Two hunters, Blake Daugherty and Jimmy Appleton, had a reliable strategy when they entered the alligator season of Mississippi: get a 12-foot beast hooked that they spotted earlier around an oxbow lake near the Mississippi River. However, that plan switched up quickly when they saw a … is that a dinosaur?!

“We were looking for a big 12-foot gator we knew about that morning,” said Appleton while speaking with Outdoor Life. “We found him and backed off a bit watching him, waiting until noon.” (RELATED: Video Shows Moronic Family Risking Lives With Gargantuan Bison)

Then, they came across a monstrous gator who let out a “bellowing growl” and a “roar” that was dinosaur-like.

“We knew then, that’s the king of the swamp,” said Daugherty. “He’s letting everybody know ‘I’m the big dog.’”

After that, they completely forgot about the 12-foot gator.

After they tracked down the giant gator, Appleton then managed to hook it on the very first cast.

“It about snatched me out of the boat,” said Appleton. “I tried to move him off the bottom with my rod, but he wouldn’t budge.”

A second hook got put in the alligator by Blake, which led to the dinosaur relative giving its famous death roll. From there, the war between the two sides was on.

“He was dragging my 17-foot boat around like it was nothing,” said Appleton.

Appleton and Daughterty, along with the help from his sons Cruz (11 years old) and Cash (9 years old), finally managed to subdue the alligator after using a snare and bang stick.

When the gator arrived in Yazoo City’s Red Antler Processing, it came in at a whopping 14 feet and ¼ inch, and weighed a massive 662 pounds. It fell just two inches from breaking the state record in Mississippi.

And as they should, the skull of this gargantuan beast is being mounted … legendary stuff right here, ladies and gentlemen.
