MPs in the House of Commons are within a day of voting on Kim Leadbeater’s assisted suicide bill.
Christians held a national day of prayer against the bill on 11 June. The day was supported by various groups including Affinity, CARE, Christian Concern, The Christian Institute, Christian Medical Fellowship, and Evangelical Alliance.
Unless it is delayed or rescheduled, the final vote in the House of Commons is expected to be held on Friday 20 June. At least 28 MPs would need to switch their vote to stop the bill proceeding to the House of Lords.
News reports in the run up to the vote suggested that support for the bill has narrowed because of growing concern about the lack of safeguards to protect the vulnerable.
