MSNBC guest says there is no doubt Biden had cancer ‘at the start of his presidency’

Daily Caller News Foundation

A former Obama administration official told MSNBC host Joe Scarborough Monday that he believed former President Joe Biden was battling prostate cancer during his presidential term in office.

Biden was diagnosed on Friday with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that metastasized to the bone, according to a Sunday release from his personal office. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, regarded as the architect of Obamacare, said the advanced stage of the disease was unlikely to have occurred since Biden left the White House.

“You believe it is likely, if this prostate cancer has spread to the bone, that he could have had it for up to a decade, but certainly, likely, would it be fair to say, he’s likely to have had this for at least several years?” Scarborough asked, with Emanuel responding, “Oh, more than several years. You don’t get prostate cancer-”

“I just, I just want to stop here. So this is, this is not speculation. If you have prostate cancer that has spread to the bone, then, he’s most certainly, you are saying, had it when he was president of the United States?” Scarbrough asked.

“Oh, yeah. He did not develop it in the last 100, 200 days. He had it while he was president,” Emanuel answered. “He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021. I don’t think there’s any disagreement about that.”

Prostate cancer that has spread to the bone is usually considered Stage 4B cancer with a survival rate of 37% over five years from diagnosis, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Biden’s cancer has a Gleason score of nine out of a maximum of ten, according to the release from his office. A Gleason score indicates how fast the prostate cancer is spreading and is determined by adding the grades of the two most prominent patterns of mutated cells in a biopsy, according to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Biden’s previous medical history includes two operations to treat brain aneurysms and a pulmonary embolism in 1988, according to media reports at the time.
