The sparks were flying in Georgia! And that’s an understatement!
Fans of the Atlanta Falcons are either pumped up right now, or suffering from a massive headache, after multiple brawls broke out and interrupted a training camp session Sunday. Located in Flowery Branch, several fights erupted with two of them involving their rookie edge rusher James Pearce, Jr.
Positioned as a linebacker, the 6-foot-5 (245-pound) behemoth got into it with offensive linemen while quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. was running things for the ATL offense. Pearce got tied up with right tackle Kaleb McGary and left guard Matthew Bergeron multiple times, triggering defensive players such as defensive end Leonard Floyd to get involved and escalate the situation. Some are applauding the fieriness of Pearce Jr., as it can prove to have value for the Falcons’ defense, but in the process, he openly defied the no-fight order from head coach Raheem Morris. A few days prior, Morris told his players that he didn’t want to see any fights during training camp. Jeff Ulbrich, the defensive coordinator for Atlanta, labeled the brawls as acts of passion, but said things crossed the line.
“We’re trying to develop a culture, a style of play, for sure,” said Ulbrich, per atlantafalcons.com.
Just had two dust ups out here. There was one constant in both of them. James. Pearce. Jr. #Falcons

The only crime that I see in this entire situation is that nobody caught the fights on camera. Let’s do better, Atlanta!
