A Christian couple seeking reunification with their daughters has been dealt a terrible blow by Europe’s top court.
Daniel and Bianca Samson have been fighting to regain custody of their two eldest daughters from the Swedish government since December 2022, according to Alliance Defending Freedom International. (RELATED: JORGE MARTINEZ: Genocide Against Christians In Plain Sight And Why Leadership Matters)
The European Court of Human Rights deemed the Samsons’ case “inadmissible” March 10. The decision is final. It cannot be appealed. The family separation was reportedly instigated by a false report made by Sara Samson, the couple’s eldest daughter.
“[T]he eldest made a false report at school over her parents’ refusal to give her a phone and allow makeup, prompting allegations of ‘religious extremism,’ even though she promptly retracted. The daughters have been separated from their parents, and each other, since December 2022, even though the state found no evidence of abuse,” writes ADF International. Sara Samson was 11 when she made the false claim. Tiana, her sister, was 10.

“The state has cited the family’s regular attendance at church three times a week to corroborate accusations of ‘religious extremism,’ despite the fact that this simply reflects their religious beliefs and is a protected action under international human rights law. The Samsons currently are only allowed one supervised visit per month. This is complicated by the fact that the girls are placed in different foster care homes far away from each other,” according to ADF International. Both girls have reportedly attempted suicide since being separated from their parents.
If regular church attendance is a sign of “religious extremism,” what of five times a day in the direction of the Kaaba? Or abstaining from pork? Or following a kosher diet?
If Sweden is concerned with rooting out religious extremists, the state might pay a little more attention to their Muslim population. “Clan-based crime” is an “epidemic” in Sweden, according to The Spectator. So-called “humiliation robberies,” in which the robber attempts to break the (usually underage) victim’s self-esteem, are overwhelmingly perpetrated by foreign-born gang members or the children of foreign-born immigrants. Boys are beaten, stripped naked, urinated on. Girls are sexually humiliated.
Sweden’s position appears to be: You can have your Christian holidays and go to church once in a while, so long as you don’t take your faith seriously. Sweden’s de facto state religion is some blend of humanistic liberalism which prizes individual autonomy above truth, beauty, and goodness.
