Unbelievably gorgeous … wow.
The Curiosity Rover from NASA has shared multiple videos from Mars‘ surface that put a spotlight on how remarkable the red planet’s night sky looks.
The six-wheeled robot has been rolling along on Mars since 2012, and throughout that time, it’s made it up to 22 miles in its journey. And doing so while completing task after task after task after task … after task.
One of those tasks has been examining the night sky of Mars and answering the question of, “what does it look like?” (RELATED: Never-Before-Seen Orange Shark Discovered By Anglers In Costa Rica)
In a recent article that was re-published, BBC Sky at Night Magazine‘s Stuart Atkinson gave a great explanation.
“We know it does have some clouds because they have been photographed by every orbiter, rover and lander that has ever been there, and occasionally Mars dust storms brew up that can cover the whole sky for months,” explained Atkinson. “The winds on Mars are also something that planetary scientists are keen to learn more about. Generally speaking the Martian night sky would usually be as clear as a clear desert sky here on Earth.”
But what really has people talking is the recent footage of the red planet’s night sky, and boy oh boy, is it something else.
