One of North Carolina’s more violent, dangerous cities has decided that protecting illegal aliens is its number one priority.
On Tuesday, the city council for Durham, a city with a crime rate reportedly 96 percent higher than the national average, unanimously passed a resolution making the town a so-called “Fourth Amendment Workplace,” according to the Duke Chronicle.

The Fourth Amendment famously protects American citizens against unreasonable searches and arrests by requiring a search warrant and probable cause of crime.
The “Fourth Amendment Workplace” resolution, in tur,n says that Durham city workers in particular must always abide by the 4th.
The resolution specifically instructs city staff to “uphold the 4th amendment at their workplace and city agencies and report back to Council any barriers to effective training on the 4th Amendment for any departments.”
It basically means that federal immigration authorities may not raid a city building and snatch up illegals without a warrant.
The passage of the resolution comes just over a month after four U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents showed up at the Durham County Courthouse to arrest a violent illegal alien.

“Our residents witnessed ICE agents in our community, instilling widespread fear and uncertainty,” Durham Mayor Leo Williams, a black leftist, said in a statement afterward.
“While local leaders cannot legally override the federal government’s use and weaponization of ICE, we can and must stand in strategic solidarity with our neighbors,” he added.
During a Tuesday council hearing, leftists of all stripes showed up to talk garbage about the Trump administration’s widely supported immigration raids.
“Durham celebrates a rich diversity of residents and we understand that the Trump administration’s mass deportation targets a completely manufactured panic surrounding immigrants, puts anyone who does not appear white, anyone who does not speak English or has an accent, anyone regardless of papers or immigration status, at risk of abuse, abduction and even deportation to country they have no ties to,” Durham Workers’ Right commission chair Elise Ballan babbled.
Melanie, a daughter of “immigrant parents,” meanwhile, whined about the fear children are feeling.
“I have seen too many children in our community carrying deep fear, unable to sleep, not wanting to go to school,” she said, adding that “no child should live with that kind of anxiety.”
It’s not clear, though, why these children’s parents haven’t explained the difference between legal immigrants and illegal aliens to them.
What’s known is that Durham’s government is littered with anti-ICE activists like county commissioner Nida Allam, who was caught in July warning locals about the presence of ICE agents around the courthouse:

Critics have been pushing back on the resolution by noting, among other things, that the Fourth Amendment pertains to CITIZENS, not illegal aliens.
Critics have also called for the federal government to intervene.
