
As the shock reverberated over the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the sports community found a way to honor him Wednesday night.
From tributes, prayers, and posted messages, the New York Yankees and others in the sports world reacted to the death of the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, who was a Chicago Cubs fan and was recently at a game at Wrigley Field.

“Before tonight’s game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk. Kirk founded the youth activist group ‘Turning Point USA’ and had become a fixture on college campuses,” the Yankees’ social media account on X shared in a post Wednesday. “Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.”
