New York Yankees honor Charlie Kirk with tribute, as sports stars rally with condolences

As the shock reverberated over the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the sports community found a way to honor him Wednesday night.

From tributes, prayers, and posted messages, the New York Yankees and others in the sports world reacted to the death of the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, who was a Chicago Cubs fan and was recently at a game at Wrigley Field.

“Before tonight’s game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk. Kirk founded the youth activist group ‘Turning Point USA’ and had become a fixture on college campuses,” the Yankees’ social media account on X shared in a post Wednesday. “Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.”

Others also shared video and images of the tribute on X.

Fans praised the Yankees for being a “class act.”

Others in the sports community also shared messages on X.

“Charlie was an optimist! He was leading a revival of conservative Christian values and the happiness it could lead to! Charlie is irreplaceable! A true evangelist,” Auburn coach Bruce Pearl posted.

OutKick’s Clay Travis delivered an emotional video message.

Others, from  NFL stars Brett Favre and Tim Tebow to Pittsburgh Steelers stars Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, joined the chorus of condolences.
