Yesterday Reeves announced the NHS will be handed a £30 billion increase in funding, putting the health service on track to take up half of all government public spending by the end of this parliament. What happened to Starmer’s promise of “no more money until reform”?

That frees up some cash for ever-dutiful diversity officers. Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust is currently hiring a ‘Senior Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Adviser’ on an annual salary of £58,544 to “co-ordinate and deliver EDI activity e.g. events, workshops” and “embed the values of EDI including key areas such as de-biasing recruitment.” For that you could:

• Fund 1,951 GP appointments
• Pay for 184 MRI scans.
• Fund 197 A&E visits.

The taxpayer may have a view on which should be prioritised. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
