‘No Kings’ Protester Appalled That The ‘Gays Of Hormuz’ Have Been Left Behind In Cringe Interview With Comedian

A No Kings protester fell for one of the most transparent wordplay traps in recent memory when a comedian asked her about the fictional “gays of Hormuz” at the March 28 Manhattan rally.

Comedian Lionel Leede posed the setup with a straight face. “Isn’t it a little bit homophobic that we’re so focused on the straits of Hormuz and not the gays of Hormuz?” he asked, according to video posted on YouTube. The demonstrator took the bait without hesitation. “Yes, I agree. Yes, for sure,” she replied.

Leede kept going. “Why do you think they’re willing to leave the gays of Hormuz behind?” he asked. The protester offered what sounded like a rehearsed talking point. “Historically like you know gays have always been very discriminated against which is wrong on so many levels,” she said. Leede interjected with “Even in war,” and she repeated it back. (RELATED: No Kings’ Protests Turn Violent Across Country As Protesters Chant For Communist Revolution)

The comedian then pushed the bit past any reasonable breaking point. “I just feel like if we’re going to go in there we can’t leave the gay people behind. I don’t think we should go in there at all but if we’re going to the gays of Hormuz we could turn it into Fire Island,” he said. “For sure. For sure,” the protester answered.

The woman wore a “deport the racists” button decorated with flowers during the exchange, the New York Post reported. Online commenters compared Leede’s deadpan technique to Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G character.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital Persian Gulf waterway that carries roughly one-fifth of global oil supply, according to The Nerd Stash. Iran’s disruption of the shipping lane amid the ongoing conflict has sent oil prices surging.

Sen. Ted Cruz shared the clip on X with the message “We’re all doomed….” BlazeTV host Steve Deace reacted by silently standing up and walking off his own set, Blaze Media reported. Co-host Todd Erzen laughed and delivered the final word: “And they’re going to win the next election.”
