The Democratic Socialists of America, a radical group of leftists who support New York City (NYC) mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, has condemned the peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
In a statement titled “Until Palestinian Liberation,” the radical group said that while it welcomes any relief that its “comrades in Palestine” will receive per the deal, it predicts the deal won’t “end Israel’s assault on the Palestinian people or the theft and occupation of Palestinian lands.”
“DSA harbors no illusions that Israel will honor any negotiated agreement that preserves Palestinian life or self-determination,” the group said. “Past ceasefires only slowed the carnage, and Israel continued military action with impunity.”
“The future of Gaza continues to be negotiated, not self-determined. The Occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, eroding under illegal settler expansion, continue to struggle under violent Israeli apartheid and occupation,” they continued.
The Democratic Socialists of America’s new statement, “Until Palestinian Liberation,” is one of the most extreme responses to the ceasefire.

The group went on to demand that Israel, which it described as “fascist” and “expansionist,” and its allies be “held accountable for their decades-long list of war crimes and imperial aggression.”
“Until then, there can be no long-lasting peace,” the group warned. “DSA stands for the full freedoms and self-determination of the Palestinian people, including the end of Israel’s colonization and occupation of all Arab lands, equality, and the right of all refugees to return to their homes and properties.”
The group also took a shot at America, saying it wants to “end U.S. complicity in Israel’s genocide and apartheid at every level—in our communities, our government, our workplaces—with every economic and political tool at our disposal.”
Concluding its statement, DSA vowed to double, triple, and quadruple down on its Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and effort “to effectively isolate Israel economically, culturally, and academically.”
“We will break the gears of the US imperial war machine that enables Israel and halt the flow of arms and oil to ensure our comrades may resist their oppression, cast off the occupation, and with dignity, freely self-determine their future,” the group threatened.
The DSA, which boasts over 80,000 members, offers a stark glimpse into what Mamdani represents.
The Times of Israel notes that he not only “identifies as a democratic socialist” himself, but he “has long ties to the New York City chapter of the DSA and was a member of the DSA’s delegation to the state government.”
Plus, the DSA’s NYC chapter has endorsed his mayoral campaign.
It’s no surprise then that Mamdani’s own statement regarding the Israel-Hamas peace deal was also critical of both the U.S. and Israel.
“We have watched as our tax dollars have funded a genocide,” he said. “The moral and human cost will be a lasting stain and requires accountability and real examination of our collective conscience and our government’s policies.”
Today’s scenes of Israelis and Palestinians are profoundly moving: Israeli hostages being freed and families reunited after years of fear, uncertainty, and torture; the first days in Gaza without relentless Israeli bombardment of Palestinians as families return to rubble and…

Mamdani has been bashing Israel and falsely accusing it of committing genocide since the Oct. 7 terror attack, when he released a statement focusing on Israel, not Hamas.
“[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s declaration of war, the Israeli government’s decision to cut electricity to Gaza, and Knesset members calling for another Nakba will undoubtedly lead to more violence and suffering in the days and weeks to come,” the statement read.

Then just this past weekend, Mamdani took part in a fundraising run to raise money for the discredited U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
As previously reported, the UNRWA has been credibly accused of hiring workers who previously took part in the Oct. 7 terror attack.
This morning I ran the NYC Gaza 5K in Prospect Park for the third time, alongside the Harlem Run Club, to raise money for @unrwausa, which delivers critical humanitarian aid and services to Palestinians in Gaza.
