No Timeline for Implementation on US-UK Trade Deal – Guido Fawkes

Jones: No Timeline for Implementation on US-UK Trade Deal

The government has been taking a victory lap over the US-UK trade deal announced yesterday, with business secretary Jonathan Reynolds saying on Newsnights that the UK was “days” away from “thousands of people losing their jobs” in the steel and car industry if this deal hadn’t been struck. Ironically for the rejoiner government, as US trade representative Jamieson Greer says, any deal is thanks to Brexit “liberating” the UK…

Treasury minister Darren Jones was asked on Sky News this morning when this deal will actually come into force. Jones couldn’t provide an answer:

Well this is a heads of terms arrangement. We’ve agreed the principles of that. There’s a bit more bit more work to do. We’re going to be working at pace to be able to get that locked down. We’re going to have to come back to parliament as well because parliament has to have a look at some of these details.”

If anyone had any doubt that breathless Labour has been bounced into an announcement by the White House. So no timeline on when those jobs, that were ‘days away from being lost’ will be saved then…
