“Hamas” is a word that appears many times in Hebrew Scripture. Typical is its appearance in the story of Noah in Genesis.
There, the narrative tells us:
The world became corrupt before God; the world was. Filled with hamas.
God then said to Noah:
The end of all flesh has come before Me for the whole earth is filled with hamas through them; therefore, I am going to destroy them and the earth.
Hamas is a word that is translated in many ways. It covers a range of sinister meanings, but at its core, it means crossing boundaries and seizing that which does not belong to you. In the Noah story, traditions say that the sin was robbery and/or sexual transgressions — taking someone who is forbidden, such as in adultery or incest or rape.
The core issue is the peaceful order that is God’s wish for the world. Eden gave the model of what God wanted. Breaching that order, simply because one could, brought disaster.
Like the Nazis, Hamas came to power in an election. Like the Nazis, once the democracy had delivered power into their hands, they got rid of democracy.
This is a core Biblical theme — power alone is not enough. Power badly used sets loose forces that outweigh in their evil any good illicitly attained. It destroys the possibilities that until then had existed for peace and plenty. The moral: govern yourselves or be governed by the forces of overstepping boundaries that you let loose.
The most basic of boundaries was the one set on the second and third days of creation, when the waters of deep were divided and bounded, and the dry land emerged from the all-encompassing water. Now, that primordial deep would return and destroy all those who engaged in hamas.
The negligent laziness of the legacy media, who never tire of reporting Hamas propaganda as if it were unimpeachable truth, has crossed so many boundaries that they have let loose forces that are destroying themselves. Americans are willing to look at all sides of an issue; freedom means freedom to think as we choose, to examine the truth ourselves, and to then advocate for the truth we have uncovered.
And so, Americans have given an extended listen to what the legacy media was delivering these last two decades. Yes, we have not been perfect. We should reconsider, then, and think things over a little more before launching into something like the war in Iraq. We should think more deeply about the hurt caused by racial bias enforced by the government and maintained in culture. We need to cleanse ourselves and our culture of the use of that very odd category for much of anything important. We are willing to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of saving the lives of our countrymen, even if we incur substantial loss in doing so.
But after years, it dawned, for some sooner than others, but now at a cascading acceleration, that while we were striving to be fair-minded, we were being played for contemptible fools. Fools who deserve every bit of the misery those who consider themselves our betters intend to heap upon us.
Nowhere is that more evident than in the tremendous effort made in the legacy media to do all they can to prop up the orgiastic rapists of Hamas and their exterminationist agenda.
No matter how many times Hamas’ have been exposed and demolished by hard evidence, there seems no figure, no narrative issued by the troglodytes of the tunnels that fails to be repeated as though it were true. It is March 1945 for Hamas, when the last Nazi newsreel was issued, still strutting the Nazi message as if their words would create a new reality — Abra kadabra! — and the Thousand-Year Reich would triumph.
But Hamas has built its empire on violation of every norm, every decency, every truth, except their imagined truth of a god who is only a god of power, in whose service everything is permitted — truly worshipping at the same altar as Hitler. For years, for decades, good people in Israel, in Europe, and in the United States acted on the hopeful belief that concessions and appeasements and subventions and the payment of ransoms and the disproportionate release of scores mass murderers would result in peace. “Hope and change” was certainly a winning motto in America.
And so, billions were sent to Hamas, enough to transform Gaza into a Singapore or a Miami. That it constantly attacked Israeli citizens without provocation — poor dears, let’s give them a break. They will surely come to their sense. And Israel, you are the big boy — be gracious, ignore it and it will stop.
But it did not stop. Especially when it looked like a real peace might emerge any moment, embracing the many Muslim nations that have indeed recognized that the way forward is an inclusive peace and not an endless war of extermination. This could not be! For the god of these people, to admit the value of life and the desirability of peace in which minorities and religions are respected, there can be no greater heresy.
Like the Nazis, Hamas came to power in an election. Like the Nazis, once the democracy had delivered power into their hands, they got rid of democracy. They murdered any serious political rivals and then prepared to murder and destroy the state of Israel, despite Israel unilaterally dropping all its claims to Gaza for the sake of peace.
Hamas saw only weakness, a willingness to serve something other than mindless, amoral power.
And after they demonstrated beyond all doubt exactly who they were on October 7, 2023, the power they released came back on them and all those unable to escape their clutches.
The mighty men of Hamas have never been able to win in a real fight. Their courage is only against civilians, against people whom decency protects.
Their power is in their willingness to violate every standard of decency.
They do everything they can to make sure that their civilians are killed, because this they know they can turn into political gold with their collaborators in Western media and with trusting Western populations. In World War II London, the government opened up the vast Underground, its tunnel system, to be used for shelter from the Nazi blitz. Hamas’s tunnels are stronger and longer than London’s underground, but they do not allow civilians to shelter there from battle, because those civilians are most useful to them dead.
In America’s Civil War, the siege of Vicksburg and the siege of Petersburg were both crucial in winning the victory that ended slavery. Hitler’s falling Reich was starved of food to hasten its fall.
But Israel, fighting for its life, undertook to feed the population of Gaza. And Hamas saw in this only weakness. It took control of food distribution, sent the food first to its fighters, then sold the leftovers at exorbitant prices to those whom they supposedly govern. That’s the racket by which they have kept themselves even as they have been ground down in battle.
And so they foment chaos and murder around the food distribution, or, with complicity of the UN, allow food that Israel has delivered by the ton to sit and rot to help further the Hamas narrative of Israel starving the Gazans — when the real plan is to get the money and the power flowing to them so they can revive their cherished hope of exterminating the Jews from the ashes of the fiefdom they ruined.
Hamas desperately wants the food operation to fail. It triumphs, as always, by the death and the misery of the people it means to rule once again.
Israel at last has said no to this corrupt story and all the chestless men who back it. They are resolved to treat the people of Gaza better than their own government. But Hamas cannot thrive if the Gazans have enough to eat and can manage without them. Its goal is to make enough chaos and mayhem that the good people of the West will force Israel to return the racket to Hamas and it can still cling to life.
For that’s all that Hamas has left — that and the last hostages and the dead bodies of hostages who died under their care. They won’t let them go either, for where, then, is their power?
They believe the legacy media and their friends in the Brussels orbit will bail them out at the last moment. After all, the Euro crowd has been willing to dismantle democracy in the name of progress, pulling all decisions away from anyone but the self-appointed experts. The streets of the Euro world regularly fill with Hamas supporters. The Euro politicians are addicted to the Hamas vote. And they are doing exactly what their leaders in amorality, Hamas, wish them to do. As would a very large percentage of the losing party in the last election, if only they had the power.
But a corner has been turned.
It won’t be an escape, like Noah.
But Noah’s story, and the law with a history of inspiring religious freedom, the Seven Laws which are called by Noah’s name the Noahide Laws, will triumph over the hamas of Hamas. They set out the simple basic outlines of the harmony this world needs.
It is the people who are seeing through the lies that are making the difference and discovering that their own power is greater than that of the liars, and not just their morality.
The people see and know who worships power. Seeing what they do, they no longer trust them. They see and know the love of the good and the decent and the civil that alone justifies power.
As the people have done before in the great crises that have shaped our nation, they reach a point where arguments are over, and commitment is all that counts. So it was under Lincoln, when the people highly resolved, that if needed, they would die to make men free. So it was after Pearl Harbor and Hitler’s declaration of war. They would see things through and pay no more attention to the clever arguments of those who deceived them.
The people will use their power, as they have in the past, to clear the air and set the nation’s and the world’s course once again towards the light.
