President Donald Trump on Sunday night called on House Republicans to vote to release files related to deceased pedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump’s call for the majority party in the lower legislative chamber to vote to release the files came as just four House Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, and Nancy Mace of South Carolina — signed onto a discharge petition to release the files along with all House Democrats. With the Nov. 12 swearing-in of Democratic Arizona Rep. Adelita Grijalva, the petition reached the required 218 signatures to advance to a floor vote, which has been scheduled for Tuesday.
“As I said on Friday night aboard Air Force One to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party, including our recent Victory on the Democrat ‘Shutdown,’” Trump wrote in a Sunday night post on Truth Social. “The Department of Justice has already turned over tens of thousands of pages to the Public on ‘Epstein,’ are looking at various Democrat operatives (Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, Larry Summers, etc.) and their relationship to Epstein, and the House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE!” the president’s post continued. “All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT, which is the Economy.”
“Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive and, if the Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our Landslide Election Victory,” Trump added. “Some ‘members’ of the Republican Party are being ‘used,’ and we can’t let that happen. Let’s start talking about the Republican Party’s Record Setting Achievements, and not fall into the Epstein ‘TRAP,’ which is actually a curse on the Democrats, not us.”
Trump already publicly withdrew his support of two of the four Republicans who signed onto the discharge petition prior to Sunday night. Trump on Friday called for a primary challenger to run against Greene, but has yet to endorse a specific candidate. Former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein announced his primary challenger to Massie, another cosponsor of the discharge petition, Oct. 21, with Trump’s endorsement.
Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Nov. 12, the day Grijalva was sworn in, “[t]here should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!”
