To that end the SDA formed a six-strong “Gender Equity Working Group” to push through the plans, which include “Let’s talk about Inclusion” events, described as a “series of events where people can share (anonymously if preferred) their lived experiences in the SDA. The focus will be on gender issues initially, but we might widen this to other protected characteristics in due course.” Good to know…
The SDA is meant to maintain the crumbling fleet of increasingly aged Vanguard and Astute class nuclear subs. Mandatory training with the same name has been delivered to staff, including a priority to “ensure our senior leaders can take this training as a cohort (as a Top 50 event) to build a shared view on the subject.” The last eight nuclear sub patrols have all exceeded five months because it is taking so long to maintain docked vessels…
Last month the First Sea Lord ordered an “urgent 100-day drive to tackle systemic submarine maintenance delays” due to huge backlogs. Other priorities in the plan include improving “diversity of inflow into the Organisation” and the formation of a “gender group to take ownership of gender related D&I actions.” Do you think Putin is quaking in his boots yet?
