Nurse Reinstated Following Suspension For Calling Out Doctor Who Celebrated Charlie Kirk’s Death

A New Jersey nurse who said she was suspended after accusing a doctor of celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination has returned to work, the hospital confirmed.

Lexi Kuenzle, 33, was reinstated at Englewood Hospital and will work her scheduled shifts, a spokesperson told the New York Post. The hospital added that Kuenzle was never fired and will not lose pay during the review of the incident.

“The nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts. The nurse was never fired; was never told she would be fired by Englewood Hospital; and will not miss any pay as part of our review of this matter,” the spokesperson said, adding that the hospital is “committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all.” (RELATED: New Jersey Nurse Files Suit After Surgeon Allegedly Celebrated Kirk’s Death)

The spokesperson also confirmed Englewood Health has accepted the resignation of Dr. Matthew Jung, a bariatric surgeon named in Kuenzle’s lawsuit alongside the hospital and other officials, the Post reported. Kuenzle alleged Jung told colleagues that Kirk “had it coming” in front of eight nurses and a patient. She said she challenged him, asking how a doctor could celebrate Kirk’s death.

Kuenzle shared details of the confrontation on Instagram, where she has previously posted conservative content, including a photo posing with a cardboard cutout of President Donald Trump, according to the Post.

“It was mind-blowing to me,” Kuenzle told the outlet. “I was so angry and upset.”

She told the Post she was called into a meeting the following day and suspended without pay. Her lawsuit claims Jung later offered to buy lunch for the nurses who witnessed his remarks, pointedly excluding Kuenzle.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident, has been charged in the killing of the Turning Point USA founder.

Englewood Health did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
