NYPD Releases Video After Suspect Attacks 10-Year-Old in Brooklyn [WATCH]

The New York Police Department is searching for a suspect accused of violently assaulting a 10-year-old boy outside an apartment building in Brooklyn last week, an incident that left the child injured and prompted a public call for information, as reported by The New York Post.

According to the New York City Police Department, the assault occurred just after 4 p.m. Wednesday outside 510 Ocean Parkway in the Kensington neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Investigators said the child and the adult suspect became involved in a “verbal dispute” shortly before the attack, though police have not released details about what led to the confrontation.

Police said the suspect approached the child and grabbed him before slamming the boy’s head into the window of a parked vehicle.

Surveillance video released by the department shows the suspect wearing jeans and a sweater walking toward the victim and seizing him.

The footage cuts away before the moment when the suspect allegedly smashed the child’s head into the rear window of the car.

After the assault, the suspect fled the scene in a silver minivan, traveling westbound on Ditmas Avenue toward Cortelyou Road, according to police.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene and treated the boy, who complained of pain on the right side of his head and his left hand. He was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

The incident occurred in the Kensington section of Brooklyn, a residential neighborhood where families and children are commonly present during afternoon hours.

Police have not said whether the suspect and victim knew each other prior to the encounter.

Detectives are continuing to review surveillance footage from the area and are working to identify the suspect and locate the vehicle used in the escape.

No arrests have been made as of the latest update, and police have not released a suspect description beyond what is visible in the video.

The NYPD is urging anyone with information about the assault, the suspect, or the silver minivan to come forward.
