One US state has created its own version of DOGE, bill passes both chambers

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has inspired the great state of Texas to begin a cleanup agency of their own.

Senate Bill 14 (S.B. 14) has been passed by both chambers and was crafted in the image of DOGE. If signed into law, it will create a Texas Regulatory Office that aims to eliminate unnecessary red tape and make existing regulations more efficient. It would do this by establishing an advisory panel consisting of business owners, citizens, state agencies and researchers, who would work with the governor to eliminate unnecessary government bloat.

Governor Greg Abbott has not made a public statement on whether he supports the bill, leading to some uncertainty regarding whether he will sign it when it lands on his desk.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, however, has voiced his approval of the legislation’s mission.

“I prioritized SB 14 because President Trump’s creation of the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ inspired me to find ways Texas can save taxpayers and businesses money by cutting burdensome regulations,” he said. “The Texas Miracle will continue long into the 21st century because our common-sense, conservative approach to regulation will keep Texans prosperous and our economy strong.”
