The voting ballots have dropped in members’ inboxes for the Labour Deputy Leadership contest which concludes on the 25 October after final votes are submitted on the 23rd. The two candidates have sent campaign emails to all members…
Bridget Phillipson has declared in an email to members today:
“Farage wants nothing more than to face a divided Labour party. One that is navel-gazing and focused on internal fights. Because he knows as well as you and I do, that divided parties don’t win elections… We spent fourteen long years in opposition. A divided party will send us right back there. A united Labour party will lift kids out of poverty. We have to turn this government around, not turn on each other. Only I can unite Labour, deliver progressive policies in government and face down Farage.”
Bridget also suggests that her presence as Deputy Leader in Cabint will safeguard the delivery of the Employment Rights Bill in full and “tackling the scourge of child poverty” (ending the two-child benefit cap). She also says: “We’ve made mistakes in our first year in government: we can – and must – do better.” That ship has sailed into the horizon…
